 Frequently Asked Questions

  • A midwife and a doula offer different kinds of support, but their roles beautifully complement one another. While your midwife focuses on the medical care of you and your baby during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, a doula is there to care for your emotional and physical well-being throughout the experience. A doula offers continuous support, helps you stay informed, and gently guides you through the process, creating space for you to feel grounded, confident, and supported every step of the way.

  • Not at all. A doula is not there to replace your partner, but to complement the care and connection they already bring. A doula takes time to get to know your partner and supports them in feeling confident and informed throughout the process. While your partner knows you deeply, the doula brings experience and knowledge of childbirth. Together, you form a strong and supportive team. The doula is also there to offer guidance and step in when your partner needs a moment to rest, so they can continue to be present for you with care and energy.

  • The earlier the better. Reaching out early in pregnancy increases the likelihood of availability around the estimated 40-week date and allows time to build a strong, trusting relationship before the birth or postpartum journey begins. That said, support can be arranged at any point, even after the baby is born. Whether care is needed right away or sometime later, it is always an honour to walk alongside families during this tender time.

  • Absolutely. I offer a complimentary consultation so we can get a sense of one another and you can see if I feel like the right fit for your birth team. If you decide I am the right doula for you, that is wonderful. I can begin supporting you right away. If not, that is completely okay. My priority is that you find the right support for your journey. Please feel free to reach out if you would like referrals to other doulas in your area. I know many passionate and skilled doulas with a range of personalities and specialties, and I would be happy to help you find someone who feels right for you.

  • Yes, I do! Please ask about payment plans in our consultation.
